Get through dental anxiety

Kingman Family Dentistry eliminates the fear associated with dental visits. When a trip to the dentist is on your agenda, there is no doubt that you will feel anxious. We all do. It's normal to be nervous about going to the dentist. But there is no need to panic! Dr. Lindsay and our team at Kingman Family Dentistry use a variety of sedation dentistry options in order to reduce your anxiety and help you relax from the moment you arrive at our office until you exit. There is nothing to be afraid of!

At Kingman Family Dentistry, your comfort is our main concern. We offer a variety of methods to ensure you are pain-free during your visit. All of our sedation options work quickly and effectively. No matter which option you choose, you'll be completely relaxed and comfortable during your appointment.

sedation dentistry options

  • Nitrous Oxide Sedation: commonly known as "laughing gas", nitrous oxide, is a common gas that is odorless and colorless. It is used during dental procedures to reduce patients' anxiety and pain. The gas, which is combined with oxygen and delivered via a mask, may cause you to feel a tingling sensation, but will help overcome any anxiety that you may have at the dentist and is completely harmless. Your dentist will be able to control your dose throughout the procedure.
  • Oral Sedation: This type of sedation is much more relaxing in terms of the process, simply take a pill about an hour before your appointment and you will show up feeling relaxed and ready for your appointment. We often advise that patients do not plan on driving if they will be taking oral sedation prior to their appointment.
  • Anesthesia Sedation: The most conservative of the sedations is local anesthesia in which Dr. Lindsay will apply a local anesthetic such as Novocain directly to the area that you will be receiving dental work. This will relax and numb that area of your mouth allowing you to have a virtually painless procedure. An additional benefit is that the effects of local anesthetics will only last a few hours and will usually not make you drowsy.
